Located in the prestigious British Properties with a hilltop site that overlooks downtown Vancouver, Hollyburn Country Club is a two-storey private centre for sports, swimming, dining, entertainment, business and social spaces.

To revitalize their fitness and leisure pool programming and improve long-term safety with a partial seismic upgrade to the existing lap pool and ice rink, the Client enlisted Fast + Epp’s consulting services to complete the necessary changes given our experience with community centres, aquatic and ice arena facilities, and our expertise with seismic renovation projects.

Our structural solution consisted of exposed glulam beams at the roof to promote visual warmth and precast double-tee framing at the upper floor to support the long spans. Meanwhile, the primary seismic upgrade feature was expressive concrete shear walls within the existing lap pool enclosure – laterally anchoring all of the elements within the scope of the expansion and renovation areas.
