CLT panels installed for SFU Grandstand canopy roof
July 15, 2020
Another new milestone for the Simon Fraser University’s (SFU) Grandstand project has been reached with the recent addition of cross-laminated timber (CLT) panels in the canopy roof.
Supported by steel girders, the “floating” roof cantilevers 16 metres and provides weather protection and unobstructed views for spectators below. The 1,800-seat football stadium will feature amenities including an accessible concourse, washrooms, broadcast and media facilities, integrated sound system, and booths for VIPs, sponsors, and coaches.
Construction is currently anticipated to be completed by fall.
