New Haisla Health Centre in Kitamaat
July 5, 2019
The Haisla Nation, known as ‘People of the snow’, is building a new Health Centre in Kitamaat Village, BC. The new Centre will expand on the services it currently offers, in addition to a new telehealth room, space for physiotherapists and dentists, and a community kitchen.
The new Haisla Health Centre features a beautiful exposed log structure for the main entrance space. The log framing and gable roof aim to mimic the design of a traditional Haisla Long House.
Construction is slated for completion in by early 2020. The new Health Centre is funded by the Haisla Nation Council, First Nations Health Authority, Indigenous Services Canada, and is designed by DK Architecture.
