Award of Excellence for Tallwood House at Brock Commons

The Tallwood House at Brock Commons took home the Award for Excellence in Structural Engineering at the National Council of Structural Engineers Association (NCSEA) awards. This annual ceremony which took place on October 13, 2017, honours excellence in structural engineering throughout the world.
Recognized as the tallest mass timber hybrid building in the world, the Tallwood House was commended for its innovative use of timber. The building consists five-ply cross laminated (CLT) floor panels, point-supported by glued-laminated timber columns, all resting on a concrete transfer slab at level two. Two full-height concrete cores provide lateral stability.
