2013 ACEC-BC Win for Chinese Visitor’s Centre

The striking Tsingtao Pearl Visitor Centre project in Qingdao, China has been honoured with a 2013 Award of Merit from the Association of Consulting Engineering Companies of British Columbia.

The 28,000 sq. ft. building, featuring an undulating free-form wood roof, was designed in collaboration with architects at Bohlin Cywinski Jackson and largely managed in the construction process by design builders at Fast + Epp’s affiliated company, StructureCraft Builders Inc.

The project required extensive co-ordination between teams in Canada and China, and encourages future use of sustainable materials in Asian building projects.
