Tobias Fast

Tobias Fast is a skilled engineer with a strong international resume. He has worked at the Fast + Epp office in Frankfurt and for leading engineering firms in New York and London. Through his work in four different countries, Tobias has contributed to the success of a wide range of projects. This impressive portfolio includes skyscrapers in Manhattan, tension structures at the London Zoo, and prefabricated egg-shaped timber cabins destined for the BC wilderness.

Tobias is currently serving as both a Partner and as Director of Digital Practice at the Fast + Epp Vancouver office. In this role he leads the integration between engineering and design technology to advance optimization and automation at the firm. As Engineer-of-Record Tobias ensures a high quality of design and technical detailing at all stages of his projects. And a special emphasis is places on the incorporation of new technologies and workflows.

Currently, he leads the new $150 million Williams College Art Museum project in Williamstown, Massachusetts and Grosvenor America’s $750 million multi-tower development in Burnaby, BC.

In 2023, Tobias became a Partner alongside Paul Fast and Robert Jackson. His commitment to efficient design, strong communication and mentorship skills have driven success and growth of the company. This expanded partnership broadened and diversified the firm’s leadership and reflects the company’s desire to ensure proficient and dynamic succession.

As part of a future-facing strategy Tobias – alongside Founding Partner Paul Fast and Germany Partner Jochen Stahl – will continue to leverage emerging technologies and lead the firm’s growth into new markets while ensuring business continuity.
