CANstruction team completes Beehive sculpture
November 7, 2018
Together with our partners at SFU Community Trust, the “BEElieve We CAN” team recently completed an 8 foot-tall Beehive sculpture at the Vancouver 2018 CANstruction build day, organized by the Greater Vancouver Food Bank. The theme of this year’s event is “It Takes a Village”.
A team of 15 volunteers worked like busy bees throughout the day on November 3rd to build a sculpture consisting of over 4000 cans of tuna and beans, weighing over 2000 lbs – the equivalent weight of a wild water buffalo.
“This was Fast + Epp’s fourth year participating in CANstruction,” said Nick Bevilacqua, Fast + Epp Associate, and CANstruction Team Captain. “We think its a great cause, and a fun way to put our skills to work for the community.”
The CANstruction sculptures can be seen at Lougheed Mall in Burnaby until November 11, 2018. Visitors can cast their votes for the People’s Choice Award by either donating $5 or 3 cans of food to the Food Bank.
100% of the proceeds of CANstruction Vancouver go towards the Greater Vancouver Food Bank, in support of the 27,000 members that the GVFB serves weekly.
